From our family to yours
So, who are we?
Family really is the heart of Brambles, we are Loraine and Alex the smiley mother and daughter duo that you will find behind the till, stocking the shelves and occasionally (well maybe more than occasionally) scoffing bits of our lovely local cheeses and chutneys in the back office!
Brambles is our lockdown baby, in 2020 we found ourselves inspired by being uninspired. We missed shopping, we missed the tastes and smells of farmers markets, and we missed human interaction. On a cold winter walk through Clevedon with Loraine’s dog Bramble (hence the name Brambles) we came up with the idea to create a shop that incorporated all the things we had missed so much over the last year. We wanted a space where we could celebrate the beautiful South West that we had spent many a furloughed afternoon walking through. We absolutely fell in love with Clevedon and wanted to be a part of such a beautiful and happy seaside town.
Our vision, or our mantra as I should say is, go local, shop local, support local. We believe that small businesses are not only the backbone of our communities, but the heart. We want to see a shift away from large faceless companies, and to bring back the thriving high streets full of smiling local shop owners where you are genuinely made to feel welcome and valued. Not only are we passionate about supporting local businesses, but we are also extremely committed to working in harmony with the beautiful countryside of the South West. We aim to be as responsible and sustainable as possible, so that we can leave the world a little better for those who follow us.
We honestly believe that we have created a place that feels like home away from home, a place where customers become friends and no ask is too big. We care so deeply about building real relationships with people, and we care about supporting local suppliers and delivering an excellent selection of produce. Our products at Brambles are guaranteed to reawaken your senses. You will find all of the smells and tastes of the West Country in our little shop, from tangy Somerset chutneys to free-range grass-fed meats. Our kitchenware will make cooking that little bit more enjoyable and our selection of botanicals will make your home smell like a fresh morning amongst the wildflowers of the Mendips. We are extremely passionate about good food and have spent many hours searching for the right suppliers. We are proud to say that our products cannot be found in supermarkets, and that’s the way it’s going to stay.
